Who is Travis Eugene Williams?

Smiling man wearing a white shirt and a cross necklace indoors.

Travis was born on August 29, 1984, and raised in the City of Petersburg, Virginia. As a under-educated black youth in America, Travis Eugene Williams was pulled into and consumed by the street life at an incredibly early age.

In January 2004, life dealt a devastating blow that altered Travis' life forever. Travis was arrested, later convicted for a local robbery he committed, and later received a 38 consecutive year prison sentence that he is currently serving in the Virginia Department of Corrections—without parole and no time suspended.

Despite the constitutional errors in his case that by the letter of the law render his convictions and prison sentence unconstitutional as outlined in the "Case facts", Travis accepts full responsibility for his actions and has used his time incarcerated to better himself.

Within the first 5 to 7 years of Travis' incarceration, his relationship with his relatives and childhood friends became estranged, and ultimately broken, due to his incarceration. Therefore, he was forced to find his own way in a congested environment of a diverse pool of convicted felons. Already having struggled with ADHD and being emotionally disturbed since a child, the conditions of his confinement quickly & continuously challenged his mental health causing him to develop severe anxiety and depression over the years.

Looking beyond the injustices within his case and the circumstances of his confinement, Travis sought to do better and be better with admiral and relentless ambition and never let up. Although he admits to making some bad decisions along the way, he has grown from his mistakes. His rehabilitative efforts are astounding and warrants not only recognition, but substantial support.

Travis has completed numerous institutional programs:

  • He has completed a trade and received his Data-Entry Clerk Trade Certificate via the Virginia Department of Corrections.
  • He obtained his Legal Assistant / Paralegal Career Diploma via Blackstone Career Institute.

Travis has also completed numerous accomplishments:

  • He has authored and self-published numerous books.
  • He has helped numerous inmates self-publish their books.
  • He cofounded "Odalys, LLC" but later resigned from the company in late 2020.
  • He founded the Inmates for Entrepreneurial Progress  movement.
  • In March 2023, Travis married (his now wife) Kerry, whom he  cofounded a business with. They continue to work together to accomplish  their entrepreneurial goals.
  • He has completed the Virginia Department of Corrections Victim Impact Class

Travis  has worked diligently to keep his positive entrepreneurial endeavors  flowing. Though it's a struggle to accumulate sufficient funding to build, grow and hire employees, Travis continues working to expand his entrepreneurial endeavors despite his incarceration.

"I was 19 years old at the time of the offenses that I'm currently incarcerated for, and even though no one was physically harmed. I was given 38 consecutive years without parole, nor any time suspended. At that time, I was just a teen, yet the criminal justice system has been unforgiving in terms of offering me a second chance, despite the undeniable proof of my reform and my push for the chance to right my past wrongs. I am not perfect by far, but I can say that this time spent incarcerated over the past 22 plus years has helped me develop into a better man. At this point, all I can do is keep working toward positive change in a way that will have the best effect on my family, community and others.” Travis E. Williams.

Travis is currently campaigning for prison reform to address two major issues within our nation's prison system, and needs your help.

These two major issues are:

(1.)  Falsified staff testimony & reporting, and

(2.)  Lack of state & federally funded legal representation for inmates bringing proper claims of staff misconduct against prison staff.

Please learn more about the campaign and how you can support it here.
